The Tees Pass:
A Universal
Digital Rail Pilot.
A First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) infrastructure project currently in active R&D at the Teesside University Launchpad. The Tees Pass is not a product — it is a proof-of-concept for the entire regional transit ecosystem.
Designed with Universal Design principles at its core, the Tees Pass ensures that transit remains frictionless and equitable — whether a passenger is an elderly resident without a smartphone, or a daily commuter using NFC-enabled wearables.
First-of-a-Kind
No comparable regional deployment exists in the UK

Universal Design
Frictionless access for all — from the digitally excluded to high-frequency commuters. No one left behind.
Mobile-First
ITSO on Mobile with HCE — purchase, fulfil, and use tickets directly from your digital wallet within seconds.
Multi-Modal
Bus, rail, and stadium access — one credential, one tap. True regional interoperability across all operators.
The Three
Pillars.
Every layer of the CSI.Ltd technology stack is purpose-built for high-integrity, tamper-resistant transit settlement at regional scale.
Hardware-Backed Security
Fulfillment Integrity
Hardware-backed device binding eliminates credential cloning and unauthorized sharing at the silicon level. Every credential issuance is cryptographically bound to the originating device — making duplication physically impossible.
TPM binding · Secure Enclave · Device attestation · HCE protocol compliance
AI-Driven Pattern Recognition
Revenue Protection
Machine learning models deployed at the point of issuance detect anomalous credential request patterns — protecting regional transit revenue before fraud occurs, not after.
Real-time anomaly detection · Issuance-layer ML · Fraud scoring
Multi-Modal Framework
Interoperability
A unified credential framework designed for seamless integration across bus, rail, and regional stadium access. One tap. Every mode. Every operator across the Tees Valley and beyond.
ITSO standard · Multi-operator · Bus · Rail · Venue access
Built at the
Intersection of
Academia & Industry.
